Giriraj Swami read and spoke from Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi-lila, Chapter 9, in the morning and from Antya-lila, Chapter 8, in the evening. In the morning class he spoke about Srila Madhavendra Puri’s revealing the confidential feelings of separation experienced by the gopis, and in the evening he spoke about Ramachandra Puri and his offensive mentality and Ishvara Puri and his exemplary service to Sri Madhavendra Puri, his spiritual master.
“It is really the mood of separation that impels us in Krishna consciousness. If we take an ordinary, mundane example — if someone is greedy for money, that will impel him in his economic pursuits. Without being greedy for money, he would have no impetus. It is really when we begin to feel separation from Krishna and His devotees, from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and His associates, from Srila Prabhupada and his followers, that we become more fixed in our determination to achieve their association. This can be accomplished by sadhana and service.”
