Giriraj Swami sang Sri Sri Gaura-Nityanander Daya, “The Mercy of Sri Gaura and Nityananda,” by Locana Dasa Thakura, spoke about the song, and then read and commented from Sri Caitanya-caritamrtaAdi-lila, Chapter 13.

“So this is our predicament. Of course, we have some sraddha, faith and attraction, and that is why we are here. But it is mixed. We also have some inclination towards sense gratification and mental speculation. We may be around devotees physically but not enter fully into the process of chanting and hearing and dancing. But that’s all right — as long as we stay in the association of devotees. Even if our minds sometimes try to drag us somewhere else, we can tolerate that. We can ignore that. Once, a devotee asked Srila Prabhupada, ‘What if I am engaged in service but my mind is thinking of other things?’ Srila Prabhupada replied, ‘We are in the kingdom of Maya, so it is natural that Maya will call us. But if we do not heed her call, she will give up on us; she will stop calling.’ So we should continue with our service even if our mind is being called by Maya.’ “
