On Srila Prabhupada’s appearance day, Giriraj Swami spoke on Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.15.25-27.
“At the Kumbha-mela, Srila Prabhupada explained that every six and twelve years certain auspicious planets form a jug filled with immortal nectar that pours down on the Triveni — the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Sarasvati — and that anyone who bathes in the Triveni at the auspicious time would get either elevation to the heavenly planets or liberation. When a devotee asked if it was actually true that the bathers were liberated, Srila Prabhupada said, “Yes, but we have not come for liberation. We have come to preach devotional service to Krishna. Being engaged in Lord Krishna’s loving service, we are already liberated.” That was Srila Prabhupada’s conviction, and it was true. The devotees were acting on a liberated platform. It was so austere and cold, and what we had to eat was very meager, but the devotees kept serving and preaching.”
