The Lord Honors the Word of the Devotee, March 10, Dallas

March 21, 2012

Giriraj Swami read and spoke from Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.14.57 during the morning class in Dallas.

“When I first joined the ashram, I heard something that surprised me. Srila Prabhupada gave the example of a representative of a company who on behalf of the company enters into a deal with a party. When he returns to the head office and informs the proprietor, the proprietor is not actually happy with the deal, but because the representative was authorized, the company must honor the agreement.

“Srila Prabhupada said that even if the spiritual master accepts someone that Krishna wouldn’t accept, because the spiritual master is Krishna’s authorized representative, Krishna will honor the agreement. It surprised me, because I understood that the spiritual master would do only what Krishna wanted. And certainly, in a general sense, that is true. But Krishna is an individual, and the spiritual master also is an individual. And the spiritual master has the power of attorney to give mercy — even in cases in which Krishna personally is not so inclined. Ultimately, though,  Krishna wants all the fallen souls to go back to Godhead, and the devotee, the spiritual master, is simply working to fulfill this purpose.”
