Giriraj Swami read and spoke from Sri Caitanya-caritamrta Adi-lila text 2 on the auspicious occasion of Sri Nityananda-trayodasi.
“Srila Prabhupada was the one who acted as the instrument for Lord Chaitanya and Lord Nityananda to bring the holy names to us. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu desired it:
prthivite ache yata nagaradi grama
sarvatra pracara haibe mora nama
‘In every town and village, the chanting of My name will be heard (Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Caitanya-bhagavata, Antya 4.126).’ For four centuries that desire and prediction were not fulfilled. It was Srila Prabhupada who did it. And it is inconceivable. I hope that all of you have read — or soon will read — Srila Prabhupada-lilamrita; it describes what Srila Prabhupada did for us, to enable us to be sitting here so nicely, in this beautiful temple, hearing about Gaura-Nitai and chanting the holy names. And one should see the early films of when Srila Prabhupada first came to America. You would not imagine what the people were like that Srila Prabhupada encountered. And that he could induce them to chant and dance and hear and accept and practice the philosophy of Krishna consciousness and by the process of gradual purification give up all their activities that worked against their spiritual progress — it is inconceivable.”
